Getting Started
The short version of how to play — no tutorial required.
You type what you do
Every scene runs on plain instructions. Say what your character does and the
story responds. look to take in the room, examine the
letter to study a thing, go north to move, take
the key to pick something up.
If a command doesn’t land, the game nudges you toward one that will — you’re never stuck guessing the magic word.
Stay in your role
You’re playing a character, not steering a cursor. Lean into who they are. The best moments come from choices that fit the person, not the ones that “win.” There’s usually no winning — there’s the story you make together.
When you’re ready for more
This is the whole game in three paragraphs. If you’d rather learn by doing, Learn to Play walks you through a live scene step by step.
