A Note from the Director
It started, as many things do, with a question over coffee:"What if you could play a story with your friends, not just read one?"
Interactive fiction has existed for decades — beautiful, intricate worlds built from nothing but text and imagination. But it was always a solitary affair. One reader, one parser, one flickering cursor in the dark. We loved those worlds. We just wondered what would happen if you could bring someone else into them.
Offbook is the answer to that question. A stage where stories aren't performed for an audience — they're performed by one. Every session is unrehearsed, every choice unscripted. That's the whole point. That's why we called it Offbook: because the best moments happen when you go off-script.
